EMILY MORTIMER

Probably most well-known for playing Kat, Queen Elizabeth's hand-maiden who died in a poisoned dress in the
critically acclaimed feature Elizabeth, British-born actress Emily Mortimer graduated from Oxford University in 1994 and went on to study acting at the Moscow Arts School of Theatre.
She began her career performing in several acclaimed stage productions, including The Lights at the
Royal Court Theatre and The Merchant of Venice at Edinburgh's Lyceum Theatre.
She went on to work in television and feature films with roles in Elizabeth, Notting Hill and the
television mini-series Noah's Ark.
During the beginning of the new millennium, Mortimer appeared in a number of films including Scream 3,
Love's Labour's Lost, The Kid and The Sleeping Dictionary, as well as lending her voice to the
television film, The Miracle Maker. In 2004 she received an Empire Award nomination for her role in Young Adam.
On January 3, 2003, she married American-born actor Alessandro Nivola. They live with their son in Los Angeles.
